Upcoming Speakers and Events

January 9th, 2024 – Monthly Meeting

Location: Stokes County Extension Office

Time: 7 pm

Topic: Melissopalynology: Its Uses and Challenges in Identifying Honey Sources

Speaker: Ed Moyers, Past President, Mecklenburg County Beekeepers Association
Ed is a retired engineer who, along with his wife, Marianne, started beekeeping 12 years ago. He currently maintains approximately two dozen hives located in four beeyards in the Charlotte area. While his produces honey for sale, Ed finds the real benefit of keeping bees is obtaining a better understanding of not only honeybees, but all pollinators, and the larger environment they live in. Keeping bees has given him a better appreciation of sustainable practices not only in the beeyard, but also in his yard and garden.
